Meet the Caddie
Chris "Ricey" Rice is a veteran English professional caddie with over 15 years on the bag. He started his career playing as an amatuer in Lancashire County with David Hosey, before joining Hosey as his caddie. The duo moved through Q-school onto the European Tour, where their professional career began in 2007.
Since then, Rice has caddied for Pablo, Larrazabal, Emiliano Grillo, and Tyrrell Hatton. Rice and Tyrrell had success with a win at the 2016 Alfred Dunhill Links Championship at St. Andrews. Rice also caddied for Tyrrell at his Master's debut at Augusta in 2017.
Rice is quite the golfer himself, known for hoisting his own trophy at the caddie nearest to the pin competition at the 2021 Players Championship, setting a new record at the event with a distance of 1'2".
Rice took over carrying the bag for Harold Varner III (HVIII) in early 2021. After just a year together, the duo won the 2022 Saudi International. The following year, they won yet another tournament, claiming the individual trophy at LIV Washington DC in 2023. For the 2024 Season, Captain Dustin Johnson saw their great potential and success and made a trade to acquire Harold and Chris. They are now members of 4Aces GC.
